ATC Tower

Many of us are aware with the airports, its operations and buildings within it. Well we all know that the most important building at an airport is Air Traffic Control tower but do you know how does Air traffic Control manages to do work? Well starting from what is an ATC? Air Traffic Controllers works as a nerve of an Airport which is responsible for the safe, organized and expeditious flow of air traffic in the worldwide airport regulation framework. The task of ensuring safe operations of commercial and private aircraft falls on air traffic controllers. They have to coordinate the movement of thousands of aircraft, keep them at safe distances from each other, direct them during takeoff and landing from airports, direct them around bad weather and ensure that traffic flows smoothly with minimal delays.

But it’s not that easy to work in an ATC. Age is a major factor over here. You should be having a good vision, a sharp mind and the ability to think quickly and clearly under pressure.

Even pilots with heavy accents frustrate them. Although English is the official language of aviation, not all pilots speak it well.

People who work within ATC deals between Stress and Boredom. Because they’re responsible for thousands of lives 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, most air traffic controllers experience a high level of job related stress.

It’s hard to believe but UFO spotting definitely happens. During the course of their careers, most air traffic controllers have personally spotted some sort of unidentified flying object.

These are more common at night when air traffic controllers may see an unexplained blinking light that doesn’t appear to be coming from an aircraft. But strange sightings aren’t necessarily alien life forms- radar is so sensitive that it may pick up items like clouds or flock of birds.

But it is the most secured job in an industry although increase in technology can replace human anytime from their work. With so many lives at stake, air traffic control will likely always require humans to ensure that automated systems function properly and technology doesn’t malfunction.
